His mechanical issues on Saturday forced Jonathan Finn to make his way up from the back of the field, and this was exactly what the young Canadian rider did. His excellent results in both of the last day’s special stages helped him secure 7th position in the FIM classification and score important points for the World Cup series.
“We've reached the end of the Baja Extremadura,of Day 3, I guess. We had two 75 kilometer loops today. The first one in the morning, I started quite far back due to my mechanical issues yesterday. So I had to battle quite a bit of dust, but I passed like three people and made up quite a bit of time. And then we came had service, got a bite to eat, and then went right back out, didn't really have much to do on the bike, but the second stage was really, really fast. The cars had gone over it before, but thankfully it was a lot of gravel roads and stuff, so they smoothed it out rather than rutted it out. So I was able to really carry a bunch of speed. And according to live timing, I'm fifth in the stage, so really happy with that. And then really I just needed to finish off the day, get the valuable points for the championship and not risk it too much. Considering I did have a fall in the first stage, so I wanted to tone it down a little bit, but still haul the chill,”
