Defending champion Tiago Reis, navigated by Válter Cardoso in a Toyota Hilux T1+, triumphed today in the ESC Online Baja TT Montes Alentejanos, a competition organized by CPKA. The duo spent 3h42m48.6s to complete the entire 288.65 km timed in this opening event of the Portuguese Cross-Country Championship, having gone 3m49s faster than the second-placed team.

"This weekend was difficult for us, so I'd like to wish this victory to my brother and Tiago Neves, so that they recover quickly so that they can be here with us again, they're missed here, so it's a pleasure for us and we're very happy," said Tiago Reis.

In 2nd place came the duo João Ramos/Jorge Carvalho, who had started by winning the prologue and who were also at the controls of a Toyota Hilux T1+.

"This sector was fantastic, it was very fast, the time I had with Tiago was very competitive. I was winning the sector until I had the puncture, and then of course it fell apart trying to win the sector, which was one of my goals," said João Ramos.

3rd place and 1st place in the T3 Challenger Class for João Dias/João Filipe Miranda, who beat their teammates Armindo Araújo/Pedro Ré, both in Can-Am, by 48s.

"Goal achieved, it was better than I expected, we managed to get a good place overall, I thought I wouldn't be able to get ahead of all the T1s, I only got two T1+s ahead of me. So the result was even better than the expectations we had, then we took third place and won the T3 class, so that was great," said João Dias.

Next place went to Alexandre Pinto/Bernardo Oliveira, who completed the T3 podium 37.2s off 2nd place.

The João Monteiro/Nuno Morais duo in Can-Am, in 6th place overall, were the winners in the SSV T4 class.

"Today's most memorable moment was trying to compete in the race with some cars in the top category. The tracks are challenging and despite the rain we had, we had a track with a lot of traction and dry. I had a lot of fun," said João Monteiro.

From Spain came the José Luis Garcia/Samantha Montielem duo who triumphed in the T1 Mini. The absolute Top 10 was completed by three more teams from the Challenger category. Newcomer to off-road competitions Bernardo Sousa, navigated by Hugo Magalhães, came 8th ahead of Francisco Guedes/Joel Lutas, both in Can-Am, and Miguel Barbosa/Luís Ramalho, who made their Portuguese debut in Tauros, the brand that won the Dakar.

Other winners were Joel Marrazes/José Motaco in Nissan Navara, who excelled in the T8 class, Carlos Silva and Pedro Medinas in Isuzu D-Max, who triumphed in T2, and Miguel Teodoro navigated by Gonçalo Rosado in Nissan D21, who won in T9. Out of competition Alexandre Franco drove the DAF truck in the T5 class navigated by Nuno Rodrigues da Silva.
