The Baja TT Sharish Gin Reguengos Mourão, the fifth round of the Portuguese Cross-Country Championship, held under the auspices of the FMP and counting towards the European Baja Championship, kicked off this afternoon with a very fast 5.7 km prologue. Victory in Bikes went to Micael Simão (GasGas), while in Quads the quickest was Tomás Paulo (Yamaha).

In the Moto competition, behind the Championship leader — who also won the TT3 class — came Tomás Dias (Honda), who was also the fastest in TT2. The 3rd best time went to Bernardo Megre, TT1 Champion, riding a KTM. In 4th place was Gustavo Gaudêncio (Honda), the fastest in TT1, ahead of his teammate João Duarte, who finished 2nd in TT3. David Megre (KTM), the top rider entered in the European Championship, finished 6th, while the experienced António Maio, riding a Yamaha Ténéré, placed 7th overall and won the Trail class.

“The prologue went well. As expected, due to the passage of the cars, the terrain was already quite deteriorated. Still, it was possible to ride in a more aggressive and fun way, though this was just an appetizer. There are still 180 km on Saturday and another 115 km on Sunday to complete the race, so there’s a lot left ahead. It always feels good to win the prologue and collect another point to strengthen my lead in the championship. Tomorrow I’ll be opening the track. I’ll try to enjoy it and keep my position because fighting for the win is my main goal,” said Micael Simão.

In the Quad competition, Tomás Paulo remains unstoppable. After winning the first four races of the 2025 season, he once again asserted himself, taking the prologue victory ahead of Rodrigo Alves and national champion Luís Fernandes, all riding Yamahas.

“I’m happy with my performance in the prologue of the Baja TT Sharish Gin. Winning is always good and that’s my goal. I could have set a better time, but I missed some corners because it wasn’t possible to do a reconnaissance of the prologue. Still, overall it went well and that’s what matters. Tomorrow I’ll be opening the track in the Quads and I’ll give my best to try and win. You never know, surprises can happen and I may not win, but I’ll fight and give it everything,” said Tomás Paulo.

The 37th edition of the Baja TT Sharish Gin Reguengos/Mourão 2025 continues tomorrow with a double run through a 89.75 km selective sector.
