Baja TT Sharish Gin Set to Thrill in International Showcase
120 entries across Bikes, Quads, and SSVs
The Baja TT Sharish Gin Reguengos Mourão, the fifth round of the Portuguese Cross-Country Rally Championship under the FMP, and a scoring round for the European Baja Championship, is ready to deliver three days of high-speed action. The event has attracted an impressive 120 entries, featuring 45 Bikes, 9 Quads, and 66 SSVs.
Bikes: Simão vs. Gaudêncio in a Clash of Champions
All eyes will be on Micael Simão (Gas Gas), current CNTT leader in class TT3, as he faces off against Gustavo Gaudêncio (Honda), runner-up in the standings and leading TT1. Strong challengers include Bernardo Megre (KTM), reigning TT1 Champion, as well as Tomás Dias and Christophe Lajouanie (both Honda/TT2). The mix of talent continues with João Duarte (Honda/TT3), Fernando Ferreira (Kawasaki/TT1), and the legendary António Maio, current Trail Class leader, competing aboard his Yamaha Ténéré.
Quads: Paulo Eyes Perfection
In the Quad category, Tomás Paulo has been unstoppable, winning every single race so far in 2025. His closest rivals will be Luís Fernandes, the defending National Champion, and Rodrigo Alves—all Yamaha-mounted and determined to end Paulo’s dominance.
SSV: Can-Am vs. Polaris Rivalry Heats Up
As always, the SSVs promise fireworks. Nelson Caxias currently leads the championship ahead of André Carita and Roberto Borrego—all three at the wheel of Can-Am machines. But they won’t have it easy: Polaris stars Hélder Rodrigues and Pedro Antunes are hungry for victory. Other Can-Am contenders to watch include Vasco Martins, Pedro Pinha, Francisco Guedes, and Pedro Grancha.
The Alentejo race also counts toward the Polaris Trophy, led by Sérgio Vaz, with Alexandre Silva, João Dias, and reigning 2024 Champion Arnaldo Monteiro in close pursuit. A total of 11 teams will fight it out for brand honors.
Women Power on the Rally Tracks
This year’s edition will shine with strong female participation: five riders and five co-drivers. On two wheels, Daniela Mateus (Gas Gas) and Maria Taranto (Honda) will take on the Alentejo terrain. In SSVs, Lara Brardo (Yamaha) returns alongside Dorothee Ferreira (Can-Am) and newcomer Ana Laura Dias (Yamaha), co-driven by her husband, rally star Bruno Oliveira. Navigating talents include Noemie de Sousa, Margarida Brardo, Barbara Pereira, Ana Lopes, and Anette Fjeld.
Race Program
The 37th edition of the Baja TT Sharish Gin Reguengos/Mourão 2025 kicks off on Friday, September 12, with a 5.71 km Prologue. The rally covers 523.87 km total, including 301.6 km of timed stages. After the Prologue, Saturday features two selective sections of 89.75 km each, while Sunday’s grand finale will be a decisive 116.39 km stage.
Expect adrenaline, dust, and unforgettable competition in Portugal’s Alentejo heartland.
