bp Ultimate Adventure Team Shines Again in the W2RC European round
Martim Ventura takes Rally2 victory, while Gonçalo Guerreiro secures podium and extends Challenger lead at bp Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal
The bp Ultimate Adventure Team once again stole the spotlight at the bp Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal 2025, the fourth round of the World Rally Raid Championship (W2RC). Today’s fourth and penultimate stage linked Badajoz to Lisbon with a demanding 274 km timed special. In the Moto division, Martim Ventura, riding a Honda HRC, claimed victory in the Rally2 category, while Gonçalo Guerreiro continued his strong campaign in the Auto competition by finishing 3rd in Challenger—maintaining the overall lead in his class.
After four stages, Ventura finally saw his efforts rewarded: “Everything went well today. No major issues, although I did have a small crash after misreading a roadbook note. On day one I was riding strong but had that clutch problem, and only now I managed to have a clean, dust-free stage. At last I achieved my goal of winning in Rally2. I’m obviously very happy and I feel ready to face tomorrow’s final stage,” said the Portuguese rider.
For Gonçalo Guerreiro, it was a controlled performance: “It was a calm stage. I kept our closest rival under control, and we weren’t far off his pace. We had brake problems throughout, but it didn’t stop us from being quicker overall. Our goal is to win Challenger, and right now we’ve got over 15 minutes of advantage over second place. So yes, it was a stress-free day,” said the young bp Ultimate Adventure Team driver, who not only leads the Challenger class but also climbed to 6th overall in the standings.
The bad luck of the day struck Luís Portela Morais/David Megre, who had finished 2nd in SSV yesterday with their Polaris: “I think we’re just unlucky. Others have big hits and nothing happens; we clipped a ditch and immediately broke a track rod. Now we’ll get the car ready to attack tomorrow’s final stage,” explained Portela Morais.
The grand finale of the bp Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal starts and finishes in Lisbon, with a 103 km timed section, before competitors return to the bivouac at Doca de Pedrouços, Belém.
