bp Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal 2025: Wingmotor Honda signs off Rally-Raid Portugal with a 1–2 finish
Brothers Salvador and Gonçalo Amaral take 1st and 2nd in Rally3 on the final stage
Winners of the Rally3 category in 2024, the Amaral brothers – Salvador and Gonçalo, riding for Wingmotor Honda – couldn’t repeat that overall triumph this year. Still, they wrapped up their participation in the fourth and penultimate round of the World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) in style.
On the final stage of the bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal, a 103 km selective sector starting and finishing in Lisbon, Salvador Amaral was the quickest Rally3 rider, edging his brother Gonçalo by just 6 seconds, sealing a family 1–2 on home soil.
“Today we finally had a clean stage. It was incredible. We raced on tracks where my brother Gonçalo and I usually train, and where our father first introduced us to this sport. Of course, we felt at home and pushed flat out from start to finish. We fought for every second, and I managed to win today’s special. After all the bad luck we both had during the rally, this was the perfect way to finish — on a high,” said a delighted Salvador Amaral at the end.
Gonçalo added: “Luck wasn’t on our side this time. We had some setbacks, which we tried to solve as best as we could, but we made it to the finish, which was our main goal. Today’s stage was fantastic, a real fight with my brother Salvador down to the second. I went slightly off track, which cost me the win, but it was still amazing. A great stage, lots of spectators, and once again an excellent organization by ACP — five stars.”
