The loop around Grândola marked the Ford Trucks driver’s debut in a World Championship race

Bruno Oliveira, a Ford Trucks Portugal driver, successfully completed his first stage at Rally Raid Portugal, the European round of the World Rally Raid Championship. At the wheel of a Can-Am Maverick entered in the SSV category and navigated by José Sá Pires, the driver from Ourém delivered an extremely strong performance in what marks his debut in W2RC events.

The special stage started with an issue that cost us a few minutes right in the first 15 km. But we resolved the situation and continued the race. The track was very slippery and dangerous. So, we opted to pick up the pace and keep the car on the road because there’s still a long way to go. On top of that, we had a flat tire, which also cost us a lot of time. But we’ve achieved our sporting goals. We managed to finish without any issues. José Sá Pires did an excellent job navigating, and we’re very happy. We’re now going to prepare for tomorrow’s stage,” said the driver, supported by Ford Trucks Portugal, upon arrival at the bivouac set up in Grândola after the first stage.

The second stage of the bp Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal takes place tomorrow between Grândola and Badajoz, featuring a 377-kilometer timed special stage, in what will be the longest and most demanding day of this edition of the race
