Ford Trucks driver climbs to third place in the Dakar Challenger

Bruno Oliveira, a driver for Ford Trucks Portugal, successfully completed Stage 2 of the Rally Raid Portugal, the European round of the World Rally-Raid Championship. On a day marked by extremely adverse weather conditions, the Ourém-based driver, at the wheel of a Can-Am Maverick entered in the SSV category and navigated by José Sá Pires, set the 11th fastest time among the SSVs and holds 10th place overall in the category standings.

“Today was a very difficult day for us. We made a poor tyre choice and, given the extremely slippery conditions we encountered, we were forced to manage our pace very cautiously to avoid any kind of off-road incidents. We struggled a lot, both because of that need to manage our pace and due to the physical demands, as it was a very long stage with almost constant rain. The positive aspect is that we brought the car to Badajoz without any damage and managed to keep our Top 10 position in the SSV standings, while also moving up to third place in the Dakar Challenge,” said the driver supported by Ford Trucks Portugal.

Tomorrow, Stage 3 of the bp Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal will take place around Badajoz, featuring 296 timed kilometres and 205 kilometres of liaison.
