bp Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal 2026: Wingmotor Honda Team to Compete in Rally Raid Portugal
The Amaral Brothers Will Battle for Victory in Rally 3
The Wingmotor Honda team will compete in the upcoming edition of the bp Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal, an event organized by the Automobile Club of Portugal, taking place from March 17 to 22. The team will be represented by brothers Gonçalo Amaral and Salvador Amaral, who will compete on their Honda CRF450s, tackling some of the most demanding off-road routes in Portugal and Spain.
For the duo, who took 1st and 2nd place in the Rally 3 category during the first edition of the Portugal event—part of the W2RC—this participation represents yet another major challenge in a race that promises to bring together some of the world’s best riders in the sport. The Wingmotor Honda team’s main goal for this edition is to finish the competition, achieving the best possible result.
“I’m very happy to be at the starting line for this race once again. Our goals for the future include completing the Rally Raid calendar, and we’re working to organize the project in that direction. It’s always great to compete alongside the big names in Rally Raid. Last year we had a few mishaps that we’ll try to avoid this year, and we’re also gaining some experience in this discipline. Expectations are high; the main goal is to finish and try to achieve the best possible result,” said Gonçalo Amaral at the end of the race.
For Salvador Amaral as well, “it’s a race we love, and we’re lucky to be able to participate for the third consecutive year. It’s undoubtedly the best race that comes through Portugal. We’re very excited; I hope this year we have a little more luck on our side, because last year we had some bad luck. “We’re well prepared; we’ve trained hard to be competitive in this race. This year, our path will focus more on this event as we aim to qualify for the Dakar Rally. We’ll try to compete in the category and give it our all. We invite everyone to come to Grândola to watch this great spectacle and a great race.”
Participating in the Rally Raid Portugal also reinforces the team’s commitment to the sport. With determination and a competitive spirit, Salvador and Gonçalo Amaral are preparing to face six intense days of racing, representing the colors of Wingmotor Honda in one of the most important off-road events held in Portugal, which is renowned for its organization and level of difficulty.
The bp Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal, organized under the auspices of the ACP - Automóvel Club de Portugal, will be the second competition of this season’s World Rally Raid Championship, following the 2026 Dakar Rally. The event will begin on March 17 and will be based in the town of Grândola, in the district of Setúbal. Over the course of five days, the bp Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal will traverse routes in Portugal and Spain, covering approximately 1,300 timed kilometers. Five stages will be contested, preceded by a prologue, in a competition that starts in Grândola, passes through Badajoz, and ends in Loulé, in the Algarve.
