New route will cross the Monegros Desert
The sixth edition of the Cierzo Rally Ejército de Tierra to be held on July 5 and 6, valid for the Spanish TT Rally Championship, will be held in Zaragoza and will feature a new route.
The organizer, Autódromo de Zuera Club Deportivo, organizer of the race, has designed a route that will run through the municipalities of Cuarte, Cadrete, María de Huerva, Alfajarín and Villamayor de Gállego, including 157 kilometers of section within the San Gregorio Training Camp, the largest in Spain, of a total of 400kms of route.
The race starts early on Friday, July 5th for technical and administrative checks. In the afternoon, a prologue section of 6 km will be disputed in the vicinity of the town of Maria de Huerva. Then, at 20:30 in the Plaza del Pilar, in the city of Zaragoza, will begin the official starting ceremony of the VI Cierzo Rally Ejército de Tierra.
On Saturday July 6th the race will start at the Campo de Maniobras de San Gregorio where a timed section of 157 km will be disputed, in a version of rocrrido that is completely different from that made in previous editions.
From Zaragoza the participants will head to the town of Alfajarín, to compete in the third section of the race, a special timed section of 127 km reminiscent of the Baja Montesblancos, to be held in the middle of Monegros.
After the completion of this third section, participants will return to Alfajarín before starting a second pass through the Los Monegros section, the last timed section of the 2024 edition of the rally.
In the event will take part 77 vehicles registered in the modalities in which the Spanish Off-Road Rally Championship is divided: 43 of the Spanish Off-Road Rally Championship for TT cars, 15 of the Spanish Off-Road Rally Championship for SSV, 12 of the Spanish Regularity Cup and 7 of the Parabaja.
The first three classified in the Spanish Car Championship will be present: Santiago Carnicer and Sergio Pinado with their powerful Toyota Hilux Overdrive; Federico Mogni and David Aguado, who with their Polaris RZR Pro R Sport are doing a great sensational; or the Portuguese couple composed by María Luis Gameiro and José Manuel Teixeira with their Mini John Cooper Works Rally of the T1+ category, the great kings of the modality at world level.
