Elvas Municipality, X-Adventure and Associação Vicentina Together in the Presentation of a Weekend of Racing
The municipality of Elvas will host another major motor sports competition on 27 and 28 June, with the staging of X-Offroad and the Super SSV Trophy, an initiative that promises to bring together dozens of participants and attract off-road enthusiasts to the region.
The presentation of the event took place this Wednesday and was attended by Elvas Municipal Council councillor Hermenegildo Rodrigues, event promoters Luís Pirralho, from X-Adventure, and José Real, from Associação Vicentina, who highlighted the importance of this competition for the municipality and for the promotion of motor sports in the region.
Hermenegildo Rodrigues underlined the Municipality’s commitment to initiatives of this nature, expressing the wish that this event will continue in the coming years. “Motor sports have been gaining some acceptance in our region and the Municipality, aware of these developments and conscious of the added value that events of this nature represent, cannot fail to pay attention and support initiatives of this scale,” stated the councillor.
He also highlighted the economic and tourism impact associated with the staging of the event. “I wish all those who come to Elvas the opportunity to enjoy our strengths, our gastronomy and our capacity to welcome visitors. I hope that, at the end of the event, they will be able to make a positive assessment of what will certainly be an excellent experience,” he added.
According to the organisation, around 60 participants are expected over the two days of competition, a number that meets the expectations of both the promoters and the municipality.
Luís Pirralho, promoter of the event, expressed his satisfaction at bringing the competition to Elvas, stressing that this will be the first edition held in the municipality and also the debut of a new trophy. “This is the first event we are organising in Elvas and also the first round of a new trophy, X-Offroad, under the aegis of FPAK. It is a competition designed to attract classic vehicles from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, bringing back to the tracks cars that marked generations,” he explained.
He also referred to the intense work carried out to mobilise participants and entities connected to the sport, revealing that the route was designed to provide a positive experience for all competitors. “We have a fantastic route, fast and suitable for this time of year, designed to appeal as much as possible to the participants and provide excellent competition conditions,” he stressed.
Alongside X-Offroad, the Super SSV Trophy will also take place, with Elvas hosting the fourth round of the respective trophy, organised under the aegis of the Portuguese Motorcycling Federation.
José Real, for his part, highlighted the municipality’s off-road tradition and praised the conditions found for the staging of the event. “Elvas has a strong tradition linked to off-road racing. The track is spectacular, with excellent conditions and a great driving experience. In addition, the landscape is absolutely fantastic,” he said.
He also revealed the intention to develop, in the future, charitable initiatives in partnership with local institutions, namely the Elvas Volunteer Firefighters and various social solidarity organisations. “We want these events to also have a charitable dimension, allowing us to support institutions in the municipality through the revenue generated by the initiatives,” he emphasised.
For the public, the organisation has prepared a Spectator Zone around eight and a half kilometres long, considered the best place to follow the competition. “It is the area where people can see more of the event, with all the necessary support conditions for the public, including bars, toilet facilities, assistance and the event’s operational centre. People will be able to follow a large part of the competition from a single location,” explained José Real.
With two days of competition, unique landscapes, a spirit of adventure and plenty of excitement, X-Offroad and Super SSV promise to turn Elvas into the capital of off-road racing on the last weekend of June.
