Entries are now open for the 40th edition of the bp Ultimate Baja Portalegre 500, one of the landmark events on the Portuguese and international cross-country rally calendar.
Organised by the Automóvel Club de Portugal, the event will return to the Alto Alentejo from 15 to 17 October 2026, celebrating four decades of a competition that has become one of Portugal’s best-known off-road events.
The entry process opened on 20 July, with competitors able to take advantage of the promotional entry fee until 21 September. The final deadline for entries is 30 September, little more than two weeks before the start of the event.
The 2026 Baja Portalegre 500 will once again form part of the FIA international cross-country calendar and the FIA European Baja Cup, bringing international crews to Portugal for another edition of the traditional season-closing challenge in the Alto Alentejo.
The anniversary edition follows a memorable 2025 event in which Portuguese competitors featured prominently, with João Ferreira taking victory in the cars, while Micael Simão, Tomás Paulo and José Hélio stood out in the motorcycle, quad and SSV categories respectively.
With entries now underway, attention begins to turn towards Portalegre and a particularly significant edition of the Portuguese classic: 40 years of Baja Portalegre 500.
