FPAK reveals the 2023 Portuguese Cross-Country Rallies Championship calendar
The FPAK - Portuguese Car and Karting Federation has published the cross-country race calendar for 2023, which includes three distinct competitions, the Campeonato de Portugal de Todo-o-Terreno, the Taça Ibérica de Todo-o-Terreno and the Troféu Grande Lago Alqueva.
The National Championship will have 7 races, but will have 2 major differences in relation to the 2022 edition, the first is the disappearance of Baja TT ACP, and the second difference has to do precisely with the race that replaces the ACP race, which will be Baja TT Dehesa de Extremadura, held in Badajoz, Spain.
The competition starts in February, in the Beja region where the Baja TT Montes Alentejanos will be held, from the 23rd to the 25th of February, organized by the CPKA. The 15th and 16th of April will be the Spanish round, Baja TT Dehesa de Extremadura organized by MCV Motorsport. On the 5th and 6th of May will take place the Baja TT Norte de Portugal organized by CAMI, and still in the same month, on the 26th and 27th in the other end of the country will be held the Baja TT Loulé organized by the Clube Automóvel do Algarve.
After the Algarve event the championship will enter the long summer break, period in which the competitions stop mainly due to the risk of forest fires and the non permission to organize events in forest areas. Only in September will the engines of the competition cars be heard again, when the Baja TT Sharish Reguengos Mourão takes place, organized by S.A. Reguenguense from the 22nd to the 23rd of the same month. Soon after, on the 6th and 7th of October, will return to Baja TT Oeste, organized by EC Castelo Branco.
The championship closes once again with Baja Portalegre, more precisely with the 37th edition, held on the 27th and 28th of October and organized by ACP.
The Iberian Cross-Country Cup will include 4 races, and the Spanish races which will include this competition are not yet known. On the Portuguese side, it will be the Baja TT Norte de Portugal in May and the Baja TT Sharish Reguengos Mourão which will be valid.
Finally the Great Lake Alqueva Trophy will count with Baja TT Dehesa de Extremadura in April and Baja TT Sharish Reguengos / Mourão, being the Portuguese race the only one that counts for the three competitions disputed under the auspices of FPAK.
