• Tiago Reis (MMP) secures a convincing victory in the final round of the season
• Gonçalo Guerreiro collects the points he needed and claims his first national title
• João Ferreira’s absence opened the door to a dramatic and unprecedented title decider

The Baja TT Lagos brought the 2025 Campeonato de Portugal de Todo-o-Terreno AMI48 to an end this Sunday, with Tiago Reis (MMP) taking victory in the event that crowned Gonçalo Guerreiro as the new Absolute National Champion. In a highly competitive and intense race, the historic title was only confirmed for the young Polaris driver at the very end of the event.

With Reis dominating both selective sectors — run on Saturday and Sunday — after a fiercely contested Prologue in which Guerreiro took the win, the championship battle centred entirely on Guerreiro, who needed only five points to secure the title. While Guerreiro adopted an intelligent, risk-free strategy, Tiago Reis delivered a solid and undisputed victory in Lagos, showcasing rapid adaptation to the MMP. The victory by the driver from Fradelos added weight to a race which, despite the absence of one of the championship’s leading contenders, maintained a fast pace and strong battles throughout the weekend.

The race winner, Tiago Reis, was delighted with the result: “Although I wasn’t at 100% this week — I was quite ill — we still managed to get to the Algarve and win the race, which makes us very happy. Congratulations to the entire team and to MMP for the excellent work.”

The new National Champion, Gonçalo Guerreiro, expressed his satisfaction with the title: “The Baja de Lagos is done, and it went really well for us. Today we had a puncture that cost us second place overall, but even so we finished with an excellent podium and achieved the main goal, which was to be crowned absolute champion. Now it’s time to enjoy the moment — I’m obviously very happy and I’m going to celebrate with the team and the mechanics who did an excellent job.”

The 2025 CPTT AMI48 season thus closes with a new champion, new stories, and further confirmation of the sport’s growing competitiveness in Portugal. The season ends, but the promise of even more excitement in Portuguese cross-country rallying is already in the air for 2026.
