Italian Baja 2023: Holowczyc makes the first move
The enrollments to the 30th Italian Baja, 6/9 July 2023 maintain a fast pace. And the tidbit is the official participation of Krzysztof Holowczyc with fellow compatriot Lukasz Kurzeja on team X-Raid’s Mini John Cooper Works Plus.
He already winned the competition back in 2010 on a Nissan, and the time co-piloted by Jean Marc Fortin. The Polish top driver was also a not so lucky protagonist two years ago, on a Mini, when he got stuck in a ford during the prologue , leaving his dreams of glory totally compromised. That’s why his return to Pordenone sounds like a rematch and his opponents should consider themselves warned.
Especially the Overdrive Team lead by Fortin, that in 2021 was able to occupy the entire podium of the world cup with Saudi Yazedd Al-Rajhi, Portuguese Tiago Reis and Lithuanian Benediktas Vanagas’s Toyota Hilux.
Holowczyc’s resume, proudly displaying the victories in a World Cup Fia Cross Country Bajas (2010) and a World Cup Cross Country Rallies (2013), isn’t only about offroad: it also counts the conquer of a European Rally Cup (1997) and many others national competitions.
We’re speaking of a truly multifaceted character: a former EU parliamentary, actor, host and voice actor in the Polish version of the cartoon “Asterix”. We can’t help but wonder what other surprises this man can pull out of his hat!
