Portuguese team overcomes very tough race and wins the Stock Group of the European Baja Cup

Fernando Barreiros, navigated by Rui António and at the controls of an Isuzu D-Max, managed to brilliantly overcome the enormous hardship of the Italian Baja, the second stage of the European Baja Cup, winning the Stock Group (T2) after taking a series car to the finish when only four competitors from the Ultimate group managed to overcome the difficulties of the competition and get ahead of him.

The reigning Iberian T2 champion tackled the grueling 369.75 km stage with great rigour, managing his Isuzu D-Max remarkably well and earning an important point in his fight to win the European title he missed out on last year.

On arriving in Pordenone, in the north of Italy, the naturally happy driver from Loures began by thanking "all my team, who have been fantastic and are largely responsible for this huge success. To Rui, my companion during these long hours, which took a long time to overcome and who performed brilliantly, to the mechanics who put an impeccably prepared Isuzu D-Max at our disposal and only in this way can a vehicle that is very close to a series vehicle overcome such a tough and demanding course, to our sponsors who create the conditions for us to be here and to everyone who, in the most diverse ways, supports us and cheers us on. Thank you all very much. I'm really happy to have managed to overcome all the difficulties because this Baja Italia was really tough."

The third stage of the European Baja Cup takes place in Hungary from August 8 to 11.
