Monte Gordo Sand Race 2024: Todd Kellett (Bikes) and Keveen Rochereau (Quads) repeated victories in the Monte Gordo Sand Race
After an extremely lively first day and with thousands of spectators completely filling the available spots along the beach, to watch the second edition of the Monte Gordo Sand Race, the recipe was repeated this Sunday, in what was the fifth and penultimate round of the FIM Sand Races World Cup. Also sportingly, the winners were the same. Todd Kellett dominated the bike competition and Keveen Rochereau was unbeatable among the Quads.
In the motorcycle competition, Englishman Todd Kellett, riding a Yamaha, clinching the World Cup with a victory achieved ahead of Frenchmen Jeremy Hauquier and Valentin Madoulaud, who swapped positions in Saturday's round and also in Yamaha. This trio completed 20 laps, the same as those completed by three more riders: Maxime Sot and Yentel Martens in Fantic and Tias Callens in Yamaha. Yamaha's Luis Outeiro in eighth overall was the best among the Portuguese. Amandine Verstappen triumphed among the Women, Damien Prévot among the Veterans and Paolo Maschio among the Juniors.
Frenchman Keveen Rochereau on Honda once again imposed himself on Quads in a race where fellow countryman Pablo Violet on Yamaha was second and Belgian Olivier Vandendijck finished third. This trio completed 17 laps of a race that lasted 45 minutes. Next positions were for Frenchman Axel Dutrie on Yamaha, the first of the Veterans, and Belgian Glenn Swarte on Honda. Portuguese Off-Road Champion Luis Fernandes on Yamaha in 7th position was the best Portuguese. Alois Waloszekn and Nathanaelle Abgrall triumphed respectively among the Juniors and Women.
