Nuno Matos returns to the Portuguese Off-Road Championship for the second challenge of the season, the Baja TT Norte de Portugal, taking place next weekend in Trás-os-Montes.

The postponement of the Baja TT Escuderia Castelo Branco allowed the Alentejo-based team to further strengthen its preparation following the opening round in Beja.

After the Alentejo event, the team introduced several upgrades to the Amarok Proto, which was tested last weekend with positive feedback.

The changes we made give us greater confidence. The car performed well and met our expectations, but the real test will be in competition and we’re hoping for a strong response,” said the driver.

Ricardo Claro returns to the right-hand seat of the Amarok Proto, taking on navigation duties.

Having Ricardo back with me is perfect, first of all because it means he’s fully recovered, but also because our understanding inside the car is total. That said, I’d also like to thank Pedro Carrapiço, who stepped in flawlessly and joined me in Beja.”

Nuno Matos sees the Baja TT Norte de Portugal as a demanding challenge, set in a constantly evolving environment.

“It’s a race we really enjoy, with a lot of variety in terrain and stages that change every year. We know it will require consistency and a strong pace from the start,” he added.

The only round of the calendar held in the north of the country, the Baja TT Norte de Portugal covers a total of 440 km, of which 304 km are timed. Following an 8 km prologue on Friday, the decisive day is Saturday, with two selective sections, including the longest at 143.13 km.

The final outcome will be decided on Sunday, with a last stage of 90.04 km.
