The experienced Portuguese driver Nuno Matos, current leader of the Portuguese Cross-Country Championship (CPTT) in the T8 category, has been surprising the sport with differentiated and competitive vehicles that have allowed him to win triumphs and titles over the last few years. From now on, the Portalegrense driver will be competing in a Volkswagen Amarok PROTO in the T3 category.

Nuno Matos will now be competing in one of the fastest-rising categories in the CPTT, such as the super-competitive T3 category, in a prototype vehicle with the looks of the newest version of the Volkswagen Amarok, an emblematic vehicle in off-road racing that recently received an evolution that promises to continue to make a difference in its segment on the national and international markets.

Like the driver's other projects, the Volkswagen Amarok PROTO was developed entirely in Portugal and will feature an engine from the German brand.

The usual partners and sponsors that the driver has had for several years have not missed the call, and so Nuno Matos, navigated by Ricardo Claro, is giving up the fight for the title in the T8 category and is already starting this new adventure. "Naturally, it's with great regret that we're leaving behind the work we've done to get to the front of the T8 category, but in truth, this was a very interesting opportunity for us to think about the future, and we had to grab it tooth and nail. The fight in the T8 category was very interesting, and that's why we know that the title will be in good hands," said the driver before turning his attention to the future: "We're very proud to present this car, a Volkswagen Amarok PROTO, which is 100% in line with our cross-country career and which we believe will be competitive. This car has very particular characteristics that the public will soon get to know, and the whole team is working hard to be present at the fifth round of the Portuguese Cross-Country Championship, the Baja TT Sharish Reguengos. We're very excited about the challenge and very grateful to all our partners who, once again, have put their trust in us and supported this project," he said.

The Portuguese Cross-Country Championship consists of a total of seven races, with three events still to be held: Baja TT Sharish Reguengos / Mourão / Redondo (September 22-24), Baja TT Oeste (October 6-8) and Baja Portalegre 500 (October 27-28).
