Bruno Santos leads the Bikes, Ricardo Caetano the Quads and Pedro Santinho Mendes the SSV standings

After the rounds in Beja and the North of Portugal, the Portuguese Cross-Country Championship, held under the auspices of the FMP, now heads to the TH Clothes Raid TT Ferraria from May 22 to 24. This third round of the 2026 season features, provisionally, a remarkable entry list with a total of 148 competitors: 41 Bikes, 13 Quads, 63 SSVs and 5 Hobby entrants. In addition, 26 riders will compete in the third round of the Portuguese Mini Baja Championship.

In the Bike category, where reigning national champion Micael Simão lines up on a KTM, the current championship leader is Bruno Santos on a Husqvarna, having won both rounds so far. They will be challenged by Gustavo Gaudêncio, riding a Honda in the TT1 class and currently second in the standings. Also competing on Honda are João Duarte, Tomás Dias and Salvador Amaral, while Bernardo and David Megre, as well as Afonso Figueiredo on KTM, and Nelson Cunha, Fernando Ferreira and Jorge Leite on Kawasaki, are also names to watch. Noteworthy entries in the Bike category include António Maio on a Yamaha Ténéré 700 in the Trail class, and Pedro Bianchi Prata on the fully electric STRiX. Daniela Mateus (Kawasaki) and Maria Taranto (Honda) are the two female competitors.

In the Quad category, Ricardo Caetano on a Suzuki, winner of the opening round, currently leads the championship. However, the main favourite is Tomás Paulo on a Yamaha, the 2025 champion and winner of all races last season, who also claimed victory at the Baja Norte de Portugal this year. His main rival is expected to be former national champion Luís Fernandes, also on a Yamaha.

In the SSV category, where reigning champion Nelson Caxias competes in a Can-Am, the two rounds so far have been won by Polaris drivers — Tiago Guerreiro in Beja and young Afonso Oliveira in the Baja Norte de Portugal. However, it is a Can-Am driver, Pedro Santinho Mendes, who leads the championship. At the TH Clothes Raid TT Ferraria, local favourite Roberto Borrego, along with Pedro Antunes, Gonçalo Guerra and Pedro Pinha, will be among the strongest Polaris contenders, alongside the two previous winners. On the Can-Am side, in addition to the current leader, names such as Pedro Grancha, Rodrigo Melancia, young Bernardo Passanha, returning driver Francisco Guedes and Tomás Neves stand out. André Rodrigues, driving a highly competitive Segway and currently fifth in the standings, is another driver to watch.

It is also worth noting that the TH Clothes Raid TT Ferraria includes two one-make competitions: the Can-Am Challenge, with 28 participants and currently led by Pedro Santinho Mendes, and the Polaris RZR Trophy, which will hold its second round of the 2026 season after Afonso Oliveira claimed the opening victory.

The event also features the younger generation, hosting the third round of the Portuguese Mini Baja Championship. After two rounds, Pedro Lança (Husqvarna) leads in the Infantis category, João Pedro Marcão (Yamaha) in Iniciados, and Francisco Porto Nunes (Yamaha) in Juvenis. The entry list includes 5 Juvenis, 9 Iniciados and 8 Infantis, along with one Quad rider and two Mini SSV competitors. Notably, three girls are also taking part.

The 2026 TH Clothes Raid TT Ferraria will consist of a prologue and two stages. The event begins on the morning of Friday, May 22, with administrative and technical scrutineering. The competition gets underway in the afternoon with a seven-kilometre timed prologue. The first stage, covering a total of 194 kilometres, will take place on Saturday, May 23, and will be repeated on Sunday, May 24. The event will feature a total of 395 timed kilometres.
