Joan Pedrero clinches the victory on the second stage of the Rally Adventure Galicia, leading the way throughout the day.
At eight hours and forty minutes in the morning, the longest special of this A Estrada Rally, totaling 237 km, began. The race organization divided the course into three clearly distinct sections, interspersed with two neutralization points to facilitate motorcycle refueling and rider replenishment. The first part served as an introduction with moderately challenging navigation, but more than 70 km into it, it heated up the bulk of the race. The second section, between the two neutralization points, tested the riders' piloting skills and roadbook interpretation, with directional navigation sections that required riders to cut throttle and put their boots on the ground if necessary to hit all the waypoints and continue the race. Following the final refueling and having conquered the most challenging section, riders enjoyed a last stretch of fast tracks interspersed with paths and trails that would bring them to the finish line with the best of feelings.
Joan Pedrero, the first rider to start, never relinquished the lead during the 6 hours and 25 minutes it took him to complete the entirety of this extremely long special on the second day of the race. The rider from Canet de Mar gained an advantage from the first kilometers, establishing a gap of up to seven minutes over his closest pursuer at the first refueling.
Marc Calmet would be the second to cross the finish line, 11 minutes and 47 seconds behind; Rubén Saldaña followed in third place, 16 minutes and 50 seconds adrift; Matteo Bottino finished fourth, 17 minutes and 35 seconds behind, and Juan Jesús Sánchez secured the fifth spot, trailing Pedrero by 20 minutes and 52 seconds.
Joan Pedrero maintains his overall classification lead with a total of 11 hours and 20 minutes of racing, followed by Matteo Bottino at 30 minutes and 31 seconds and Rubén Saldaña at 33 minutes and 5 seconds.
Joan Pedrero: "The truth is, it's amazing to be here racing, in this forest, enjoying it so much, and on terrain that's spectacular. There's no dust, there are a lot of rocks, it's very technical, but I love it. I was really looking forward to it. I've already got the hang of the roadbook. I already picked it up late yesterday, and this morning I made very few mistakes, minimal ones. I started at the front and led the entire stage. Congratulations to the organization because it's not easy to create a roadbook like this."
