Rally Adventure Galicia 2023. Third stage and third victory for Joan Pedrero.
Joan Pedrero claims his third consecutive victory in the Rally Adventure Galicia, leading from the front, executing flawless navigation, and maintaining the lead throughout the day.
Under ideal ambient temperature and terrain humidity conditions for Rally Raid, the third stage of the A Estrada Rally began with a total of 214 km of special stages. With two neutralized zones for necessary supplies, the organizers had prepared a race that was entirely consistent, offering plenty of fast and even faster tracks, interspersed with more challenging sections and short asphalt links that the riders used to hydrate before the next assault.
For the second consecutive day, Joan Pedrero started in the first position, leading the way and navigating without errors, maintaining a high pace in all sections, replicating his performance from the previous stage. The rider from Canet de Mar took an early lead, which continued to grow section by section throughout the special, ultimately securing the stage victory with a time of 4 hours and 50 minutes and a 14-minute gap over his closest pursuer, Czech rider Matyás Cervenka.
The top five was completed by Adriá Pascuet Copte in third place, Matteo Bottino in fourth, and Ruben Saldaña in fifth, all within 15 minutes of Pedrero and with only a few seconds separating them.
Joan Pedrero solidifies his lead in the overall classification with a total race time of 16 hours and 11 minutes, followed by Matteo Bottino at 45 minutes and 42 seconds, and Rubén Saldaña at 48 minutes and 50 seconds.
Joan Pedrero: "I set a pace and don't look back. I ride without rearview mirrors. I have a good feeling, and why stop! If I slow down, I lose focus, and right now, I have a good grasp of how the organizer has laid out the course, and honestly, I'm enjoying it a lot. More than the race, it's what I'm enjoying... and with the small bike, when I've had so many races with the other one this year, it's a pleasure for me, especially considering the terrain. It's been spectacular. Congratulations to the organization because they are doing an incredible job in a unique place."
