Rally Raid Portugal 2024: Bruno Santos remains among the best at Rally Raid Portugal
The BP Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal continues to go well for Bruno Santos who, one stage away from the end of this debut edition of the World Championship event, remains on the absolute podium. The Momento TT-supported driver once again performed excellently in competition, taking third place in the fourth stage of the rally, which today took the Badajoz delegation back to Grândola and was just 35 seconds behind the day's winner. Bruno Santos thus remains in the lead of the Rally 2 Class, which he has held since the start of this event organised by ACP - Automóvel Clube de Portugal.
At the controls of a Husqvarna 450 Rally, the rider spent 02h40m19s completing the 253Km timed section of today's fifth stage, thus shortening the gap to the leader in the competition's overall standings.
On arrival at the bivouac, the Torres Vedras driver explained how the stage, which took place in Extremadura, Spain, went "It was a good day, a special stage with very varied tracks, alternating between fast areas and more technical, slower ones with a lot of driving. I managed to keep up the pace and come third again, which means I can keep third position and I'm clearly very happy. Tomorrow is the only day left. It will be a shorter stage and I hope I can hold on and shine in this rally," said Bruno Santos, who has twice won the National Rally Raid Champion title in his sporting career.
Tomorrow sees the final stage of the BP Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal, with 144 kilometres, 102 of which timed, divided into two selective sectors, the sixth and seventh, starting and finishing in Grândola.
