Imagine racing at 100 mph… over anything.

That is the promise behind the SCG 008, the latest off-road endurance platform from Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, designed to bring drivers closer to the raw essence of desert racing—without the prohibitive costs or complexity of top-tier factory machinery.

In a landscape where Dakar and Baja prototypes have become increasingly extreme, the 008 takes a different path. It is a race-ready, turnkey machine, built not only for competition but for accessibility, enjoyment and durability across some of the harshest environments on Earth.

A Different Philosophy for Modern Off-Road Racing

Endurance off-road racing has often been compared to a fusion of Le Mans discipline and Woodstock chaos—a unique blend of speed, endurance and unpredictability. But as performance levels have escalated, many of today’s top-class vehicles have drifted away from what makes the sport truly engaging for drivers.

The SCG 008 was born as a response to that shift.

According to Glickenhaus, the goal was simple: create a machine that delivers pure driving enjoyment, remains competitive, and avoids the million-dollar barrier that now defines the top categories. The concept brings back practical and driver-focused solutions—such as a three-seat layout with a central driving position and a curved windscreen with electric defogging—features that echo both function and heritage.

Built for Competition, Engineered for Extremes

With a silhouette reminiscent of a 1960s Le Mans prototype, the SCG 008 blends classic endurance aesthetics with modern off-road engineering. Beneath its distinctive design lies a platform developed to withstand the punishing realities of desert racing and rally-raid competition.

The car is eligible for several major categories, including:

  • Dakar (Class T1.3)
  • SCORE Championship (Class 2)
  • NORRA Rally Car Class

Beyond competitive use, the 008 is positioned as a versatile tool—equally capable as a pre-runner, testing platform, driver training vehicle, or even an extreme off-road exploration machine.

Technical Overview

At its core, the SCG 008 is built around a chrome-moly chassis with an integrated roll cage, ensuring both rigidity and safety. It features long-travel independent suspension using FOX dampers and Eibach springs, delivering approximately 20 inches of wheel travel—essential for absorbing high-speed terrain variations.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 (LS3) producing around 430 horsepower, paired with a Weddle S5D 5-speed sequential gearbox. The package rides on 37-inch tyres, striking a balance between durability and performance.

With a weight of approximately 3,800 lbs (1,724 kg), the 008 positions itself as a robust yet agile contender in its class.

Perhaps most notably, the car is offered as a fully assembled, race-ready package priced at $250,000—a figure that significantly undercuts many competitors in the same performance bracket.

A Proven Pedigree

Unlike many new entries in the off-road space, the SCG 008 is backed by a team with extensive real-world experience.

Team Glickenhaus has been competing since 2011, with a track record spanning both endurance racing and off-road competition. Over the past decade, the team has:

  • Designed and built six clean-sheet race cars

  • Competed in multiple 18, 24-hour and 1000-mile races

  • Achieved 15 podium finishes in endurance racing

In the desert, their legacy includes the modern revival of the iconic Baja Boot, which secured back-to-back SCORE Class 2 victories at the Baja 1000 in 2019 and 2020, competing against factory-backed teams.

On the circuit side, the team’s credentials include success at some of the world’s most demanding events, such as the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where they became the first American team in over 50 years to reach the podium.

From Dream to Reality

Every racing programme begins with a simple question: If you could race anywhere, where would you go?

With the SCG 008, Glickenhaus offers not just a machine, but a pathway—from ambition to execution. Whether it is a first rally, a Baja campaign, or another chapter in a long racing career, the platform is designed to make that journey possible.

In a sport increasingly defined by complexity, the SCG 008 stands out by returning to fundamentals: speed, endurance, and the pure thrill of racing across the unknown.
