  • The X-raid Fenic impresses with better stability and drivability

It’s small, nimble, and agile. The Fennec fox is perfectly adapted to the challenges of the desert – heat and sand are its preferred habitat. This little desert fox is the ideal namesake for the newly developed X-raid side-by-side vehicle. The X-raid Fenic is the “small one” in the vehicle family of the team from Trebur. Tight and twisty tracks are its playground, and it feels right at home in the desert.

The X-raid Fenic is an evolution of the X-raid 1000R Turbo, built and developed by X-raid. The most noticeable external change is the new front hood. Additionally, the vehicle has slightly grown in both width and length, a result of extensive modifications made to the drivetrain, suspension, and front axle geometry. The goal of this development was to improve drivability and increase stability. The side-by-side vehicle now offers smoother and more direct handling in corners while being less prone to “rolling.”

The core of the side-by-side, its transmission and engine, remains unchanged – but under the hood, it’s been significantly upgraded! Reinforced front and rear differentials, a brand-new drive shaft, and redesigned control arms take performance to the next level. The wider track and newly developed front axle geometry even required a redesigned front hood – a testament to the radical changes.

For the first time ever, a vehicle was developed with uncompromising use of interchangeable parts, while still achieving a noticeable performance boost. Not only do the side panels and roof still fit perfectly to maintain the vehicle's signature look, but the engineers also created a system where control arms, drive shafts, and wheel hubs are universally applicable! Each control arm, both upper and lower, fits all four corners of the vehicle, and the wheel hubs are designed to be easily mounted at all four corners as well. Additionally, different braking systems can be installed. This unique solution allows X-raid to equip the vehicle with the optimal brakes for each event, ensuring peak performance every time.

The X-raid Fenic has undergone an extensive testing program, covering hundreds of kilometers in the demanding desert landscapes of Morocco and Dubai. Furthermore, the technical modifications were rigorously tested at a Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) facility near Trier.

The Fenic will make its rally debut from December 18–21, 2024, at the Jeddah Rally in Saudi Arabia. There, the two crews – Annett Quandt / Annie Seel and Maria Gameiro / José Marques – will pilot the little desert racer. This event will also serve as a dress rehearsal for the Dakar Rally, which starts just a few weeks later.
