Baja 250 2025: Spectacular victory for Lynn in the King Shocks 38th SCORE San Felipe 250
The first round of the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship was won overall and in the Pro Moto Unlimited class by Tyler Lynn, Ryan Surratt, and Carter Klein
The Slam Life Racing team extended Honda's dominance by winning the King Shocks 38th SCORE San Felipe 250 overall in the bikes, thanks to the teamwork of Tyler Lynn, Ryan Surratt, and Carter Klein in the first round of the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship.
Tyler Lynn, 24, Mona, Utah, along with Carter Klein, 20, Agua Dulce, Calif., and Ryan Surratt, 28, Perris, Calif., completed the 250.06-mile race course in 4 hours, 49 minutes, and 3 seconds at an average speed of 51.89 miles per hour aboard the SLR No. 7x Honda CRF450X.
This was Honda's 25th overall victory in the SCORE San Felipe 250, with a significant lead over its closest competitor, Kawasaki, which has 7 wins in what is known as the ‘SCORE Baby Baja,’ part of the ‘Baja Triple Crown,’ alongside the SCORE Baja 1000 and SCORE Baja 500.
Arturo Salas Junior, 22, Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, finished second overall and in the Pro Moto Unlimited class, aboard the Hero Racing No. 1x Honda CRF450X. Salas had the support of Shane Logan, 23, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and Ciaran Naran, 24, Huntington Beach, Calif.
A total of 251 teams started the race at the San Felipe Malecon, from 26 states in the United States, the host country Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, India, Argentina, Australia, France, and New Zealand. 191 teams officially finished the race, resulting in a 76 percent finish rate in the SCORE San Felipe 250.
San Felipe is located 125 miles south of the U.S. border in Calexico, California, on the eastern side of the Baja California Peninsula, along the blue waters of the Sea of Cortez.
The four SCORE races in 2025 will take place in the magnificent Baja California Peninsula of Mexico, something that has been happening for the past ten years.
O'NEAL, THE KING OF SAN FELIPE
Jim O'Neal, 78, Simi Valley, Calif., is a living legend of SCORE and Baja, achieving his 21st career victory in the SCORE San Felipe 250 by winning the Pro Moto 40 class alongside Shane Esposito, 50, Canyon Lake, Calif., Francisco Septien, 49, Baja California, Mexico, and Rene Magana, 43, Lake Forest, Calif.
O'Neal has earned all of his victories in the SCORE San Felipe 250 aboard a motorcycle. He is the founder of the O'Neal company of sportswear and accessories for motorcycles and mountain biking, and is the all-time winningest competitor in the history of the race. In his most recent win, he crossed the finish line on a No. 400x Honda CRF450X with a time of 6 hours, 5 minutes, and 53 seconds.
SERNA, AN UNFORGETTABLE STEEL DEBUT
Larry Serna Jr., 29, Chula Vista, Calif., had never participated in a SCORE race in the Pro Moto Ironman class, but he won the SCORE San Felipe 250 with a time of 6 hours, 20 minutes, and 43 seconds aboard his No. 715x Honda CRF450X.
Serna not only completed the 650.06-mile course solo on his motorcycle, but he also outperformed a group of 16 athletes, making a strong start in the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship.
RAMANI, THE INDIA CHAMPION
Bhaskar Ramani, 50 years, India, (Atlanta, Georgia), had a unique experience in the SCORE San Felipe 250, winning the Pro Moto Limited class aboard his No. 127x Honda 450X with a time of 6 hours, 13 minutes, and 54 seconds.
Ramani teamed up with Luis Alberto Escobar, 38, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, Thorn Devlin, 27, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, and Juan Tamayo, 35, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
VIVA MEXICO AND RAMIREZ
In the Pro Quad class, the winners were Estevan Ramírez Junior, 27. Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, Jesús Osuna, 23, Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, Omar Murillo, 24, Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, and Hector Chavez, 29, Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, who crossed the finish line at the San Felipe Malecon after 5 hours, 55 minutes, and 38 seconds.
Ramirez Junior and his friends completed the 250.06-mile race course aboard their No. 1a Honda TRX450R, starting off with a win in the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship.
EL BANCO
The most important sports and tourism event of the year for the municipality of San Felipe had a significant economic impact, which began with the pre-running on the SCORE San Felipe 250 race course, distributed across areas such as hotels, restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, auto parts shops, and off-road stores.
