  • Summer break for the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship is over, as registration is now open for racers for the 5th SCORE Baja 400, presented by VP Racing. Round 3 of the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Series will be held Sept. 10-15 in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, a colorful port city known as "The Off-Road Capital of the World".
  • SCORE's youngest race will feature nearly 225 entries, divided into different classes of motorcycles, quads, cars, trucks and UTVs, who will have to overcome the deserts, mountains and beaches of Baja California, on a final route that will be announced in the coming weeks through SCORE's social media networks.

There are already 68 teams registered for this year’s SCORE Baja 400, with racers so far from 18 states in the United States, as well as from Argentina, Australia, Canada, Ecuador, France, New Zealand and the host country, Mexico, numbers that will increase in the coming weeks, as racer registrations can be made at the link, https://score.configio.com/.
On Friday, Sept. 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Ensenada's Boulevard Costero, the contingency row will take place, a totally family-friendly event with free admission to the public.
For Saturday, September 14, the first motorcycle start will be at the Boulevard Costero, with a start at 4:15 a.m. for the motorcycles and quads. The cars, trucks, and UTVs will start on Boulevard Costero at 9 a.m.
All vehicles will have a 16-hour time limit to cross the finish line in the elapsed-time race while the fastest vehicles are expect to finish in about eight hours.
They preliminary race route for cars, trucks and UTVs is 394.17 miles, while the motorcycles and quads, have a race course set to be 403.46 miles. For all Sportsman classes, Class 11, Class 7SX and Class 5-1600 their preliminary race course is set for 353.67 miles.
The awards celebration will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Cathedral Room of the Riviera del Pacifico Center at 11:30 a.m., an event that will be broadcast live on SCORE's different internet platforms and will be hosted by Rat Sult, the official voice of SCORE for the last nine years.

MENZIES WILL DEFEND HIS THRONE
In the SCORE Trophy Truck, Bryce Menzies, 36, Las Vegas, Nevada, the overall winner of the last three SCORE Baja 400 races, will be behind the wheel of his No.1 Menzies Motorsports Ford Raptor Mason AWD with his sights set on taking a fourth-straight checkered flag.
Menzies, currently third in the SCORE Trophy Trucks in the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship with 229 points, finished fourth in the King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe 250, the same position he earned in the BFGoodrich 56th SCORE Baja 500.
Menzies has now won 10 career races in the history of "The Monsters of the Desert", a figure that is tied with the living legend of off-road racing, Robby Gordon, so he will be looking to continue climbing positions in this statistic, which is headed by Rob MacCachren with 20 career SCORE Trophy Truck race victories.

GAUGHAN LOOKS TO CELEBRATE IN THE 400
Former NASCAR Cup series driver Brendan Gaughan, 48, Las Vegas, Nevada, has never been able to win the SCORE Baja 400 in Class 1, something he hopes will happen this year aboard his No. 162 HMS-Chevy open-wheeler, who is coming off a very good fourth-place finish in the BFGoodrich Tires 56th SCORE Baja 500 in June.
Gaughan achieved a ninth-place finish in the SCORE Baja 400 in 2019, a second-place finish in this race during 2021, in 2022 he did not finish the race due to mechanical problems in his HSM buggy and in 2023, he did not participate in the 400 miles, thinking of increasing the legacy of his iconic last name in motorsports.

PRE-RUNNING OPENS AUGUST 31
On Saturday, Aug. 31 at 8:00 a.m. the SCORE Baja 400 route will be open for pre-running, highlighting that this activity is exclusive to teams officially registered for the race, who must drive at low speeds on the road, cities, as well as in the ejidos through which the race course travels.
