Baja 500 2025: Lynn is on fire; he clinched the Overall in the BFGoodrich Tires 57th SCORE Baja 500
Shane Esposito took the checkered flag in the Pro Moto 40 during the Round 2 of the 2025 SCORE International World Desert Championship, Larry Serna won in the Pro Moto Ironman, Jason Alosi triumphed in the Pro Moto 30, and Gerardo Rojas prevailed in the Pro Moto 50
ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico— Tyler Lynn, 24, Mona, Utah, emerged victorious at the BFGoodrich Tires 57th SCORE Baja 500 by winning the Overall Motorcycle in the Round 2 of the 2025 SCORE International World Desert Championship with the Slam for Life Racing team, securing Honda’s 24th victory as the most successful motorcycle brand in the legendary race.
Lynn, Carter Klein, 20, Agua Dulce, Calif., and Ryan Surratt, 28, Perris, Calif., dominated the 461.03-mile race course aboard the No. 7x Honda CRF450X SLR/Honda with a time of 9 hours, 18 minutes, and 23 seconds, also earning top honors in the Pro Moto Unlimited class. This victory marked a streak of successes, following their win at the King Shocks 38th SCORE San Felipe 250 in April.
Klein won the SCORE Baja 500 for the second consecutive year, although in 2024 he competed as part of the Hero Racing team alongside Arturo Salas Junior and Ciaran Naran.
With this, Honda extended its lead as the most winning motorcycle brand in the history of the SCORE Baja 500 with 24 victories, well ahead of Husqvarna, which has 12 wins, and Kawasaki, in third place with 11 wins.
Arturo Salas Jr. 22, Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, secured second place Overall at the SCORE Baja 500 aboard the No. 1x Honda CRF450X Hero Racing, which won this race in 2024, finishing with a time of 9 hours, 28 minutes, and 27 seconds in the Pro Moto Unlimited class.
A total of 202 desert racers began the adventure on the Ensenada Boulevar Costero, and 131 crossed the finish line at both Rancho Nelson in the Piedras Gordas ejido and the Boulevar Costero, resulting in a 65% finisher rate. Competitors from 27 U.S. states, the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico, Spain, France, India, England, Canada, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, and host country Mexico participated in the SCORE Baja 500.
It is worth noting that all four SCORE races in 2025 will be held in the magnificent Baja California Peninsula, Mexico, for the tenth consecutive year.
O'NEAL, THE MOTORCYCLE MASTER
Jim O’Neal, 79, Simi Valley, Calif., extended his reign in the SCORE Baja 500 as the most winning competitor in the race with his 26th victory as part of Shane Esposito’s team in the Pro Moto 40 class.
O’Neal, a passionate supporter of the Baja California Peninsula, founded the O’Neal brand in 1970, which offers various motocross and MTB products. He remains active within SCORE International, contributing his experience to win his second consecutive SCORE race following his triumph in the SCORE San Felipe 250.
Esposito, Jim O’Neal, Francisco Septien, Rene Magana, and Jason Miller crossed the finish line on Ensenada Boulevar Costero after 10:59:52, earning the third-best overall time among motorcycles in the Round 2 of the 2025 SCORE International World Desert Championship.
SERNA, A ‘PUREBRED HORSE’
Larry Serna won the Pro Moto Ironman class, his second consecutive victory this SCORE season, showcasing a very smart riding style over the 461.03-mile race course, crossing the finish line in 13 hours, 4 minutes, and 41 seconds aboard his No. 715x Honda CRF450X.
There were four participants in the Pro Moto Ironman class, which requires motorcycle riders to complete the entire distance without a relay, known as the ‘Steel Riders’ of Off-Road.
MORE WINNERS
Jason Alosi, 41, Reno, Nevada, conquered the magical deserts of the northern Baja California Peninsula in this SCORE Baja 500. He shared control of the No. 308x Honda CRF450X with Shane Shonor, 38, Livermore, Calif., and Tucker Hopkins, 31, Venice, Calif.
For the second consecutive race, Bhaskar Ramani, 50, India (Marietta, Georgia), won the Pro Moto Limited class with a time of 11 hours, 10 minutes, and 45 seconds, positioning himself halfway to claiming the 2025 SCORE International World Desert Championship.
Ramani shared the adventure through the mountains of Baja California aboard his No. 127x Honda CRF450X with Luis Aguilar, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, Thorn Devlin, Tamaqua, Pa., Omar Rose, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, Juan Tamayo, Ensenada; and Fabian Valles, Ensenada, Baja California, M,exico.
ROJAS AND A GOLDEN RETURN TO SCORE
Gerardo Rojas, 51, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico, won his fifth SCORE Baja 500 by taking first place in the Pro Moto 50 class in his anticipated return to SCORE International. He had previously celebrated victories in this event in 2004, 2005, 2015, and 2016.
The ‘Kid’ Rojas, along with Marcos Medina, Gabriel Medina, and Steven Gordon, had a blast aboard the No. 530x Husqvarna FE501, representing the ‘Mexican Army’ in theBaja 500, race that began in 1969.16.43-mile race course that was also used by desert racers in the Sportsman classes for bikes and cars.
It is worth noting that all four SCORE races in 2025 will be held in the magnificent Baja California Peninsula, Mexico, for the tenth consecutive year.
