Fernando Barreiros, alongside José Sá Pires, is preparing to take part in the Dubai International Baja, held in the United Arab Emirates from 20 to 23 November. This event marks the sixth and final round of the FIA World Cup for Bajas, and carries particular significance for the driver from Loures, who arrives at the decisive stage with genuine aspirations of securing the world title in the Stock category.

After a season marked by strong results, Barreiros — at the wheel of the Nissan Patrol he recently used in Qatar — now faces one of the most demanding events on the calendar. The Dubai Baja is known for its fast tracks, dune crossings and sandy sections that require solid strategy and careful race management. Although fully aware of the inherent challenges of a competition that gathers some of the most competitive international drivers, the team remains motivated and focused ahead of the three days of racing.

“We reach the final round with everything still open. We’ve worked very hard throughout the year and our goal is to fight for the Stock category title. The Dubai International Baja is always a challenge, but we are prepared to give our absolute best. This season has been intense, with many great moments and, above all, a lot of dedication and hard work. The support I’ve received from our sponsors and followers gives me the strength to fight for a goal that means so much to the entire team,” says Fernando Barreiros.

The Dubai International Baja officially gets underway on 20 November with administrative and technical scrutineering. The following day features a 5.64 km prologue in the Hatta region (in the Hajar mountains), which will determine the starting order for the first stage — approximately 195.24 km of timed sector running from Al-Faqa’a and crossing the dunes of the Al-Qudra desert. The second and final special stage, totalling 195.63 km of timed sector, also concludes in the Al-Qudra desert.
