Driver Guiga Spinelli and navigator Paulo Fiuza had a pretty positive Sunday (13) in the second stage of the Sertões, Brazil's main rally competition. The duo competing with the Mitsubishi L200 Triton Sport Racing pickup number 310 closed the day in the top-5 of the overall car rating and in second place in the category, the T1F.
Guiga and Fiuza mark the return of the official team of Mitsubishi Motors in Sertões, this being the 31st edition of the race.
"It was a positive day, we managed to drive much faster than yesterday, the car was very good with this new setup, and me and Paulo are much more enthralled. We managed to force the pace more without taking great risks, without problems in the special, so today was a day of the way that we hope to do this rally", says Guiga, who has the sponsorship of FF Seguros, PneuStore, BTG Pactual Wealth Management, Atvos, W-Truffi Blindados and the support of Dacar Motorsports.The second stage of the Sertões 2023 was marked by 246 km of route, of which 174 km were special timed and 72 km were displacement. The competitors left Petrolina (PE), passed through Juremal (BA) and returned to the city of Pernambucan in the afternoon.
"Today was a very good day. We entered with attitude, the Guiga is congratulating us for excellent navigation, the car was perfect with the improvements we made, we are in the fight, and we will try to maintain this good sequence of work", says Fiuza.
Guiga and Fiuza occupy the third place in the sum of the time of the first two stages of the Sertões in the T1F category and the eighth position in the cars with 7 hours, 6 minutes, and 49 seconds in the total timed time. Fifth champion of the Sertões, Guiga is in his 20th participation in the main rally of Brazil.
Sertões 2023 follows this Monday (14) and the third stage marks the start of the marathon. The start will be again in Petrolina (PE) and the arrival is scheduled to take place in Xique-Xique (BA). It will be 407 km of special timed, plus 104 km of displacement, totaling 511 km in the day.
