Cristian and Marcos Baumgart point to the next two days as determinants in Sertões 2023
This Sunday (13) of Father's Day, the duo faced a total of 246 kilometers, consisting of 72km of displacements and 174km timed, leaving from Petrolina, in Pernambuco, passing by Juremal, in Bahia and returning to Petrolina in fourth position with Cristian Baumgart and Beco Andreotti and sixth with Marcos Baumhart and Kleber Cincea.
In the accumulated Sertões 2023, Cristian and Beco follow in the vice lead, 12 minutes behind the leaders, while Marcos and Kleber occupy the sixth place in the sum of times.
The duos are already preparing for the third stage, which will be played on Monday (14) and marks the start of the Marathon, which is the stage in which the team cannot make any kind of repair in the competition vehicles.
The start of the marathon, which leaves from Petrolina, runs 104 kilometers of initial displacement, 407 stretches timed for a total of 511 kilometers, ending in Xique-Xique, in Bahia.
Cristian Baumgart defined Monday as the day to accelerate the Prodrive Hunter T1+. "Today was very good, and we came very strong. Tomorrow is the day to drive strong and drive the marathon stage, safe and fast, well concentrated," said the fourth-time winner of the Sertões.
Marcos Baumgart was more concise and said that, although he is still at the beginning, the Sertões is already in its decisive phase.
"What defines the rally is the first 3 or 4 days. Whoever does it, its safe; whoever didn't, doesn't do it any more. Of course there is a lot to happen, but success in the marathon stages can be decisive for the end of the rally," said Marcos Baumgart.
On the special of this Monday, the competitors will open the Marathon stage, leaving from Petrolina (PE) and arriving in Xique-Xique, in Bahia, traveling a total of 511 kilometers, of which 104 are of initial displacement and 407 are timed.
