Guiga Spinelli presents the new design of the L200 Triton Sport Racing from the Mitsubishi Motors team and starts testing for Sertões

Spinelli Racing, the team of the five times Sertões winner, which will race this year's edition alongside Paulo Fiúza, carries out intense days of final preparations at the team’s headquarters at Fazenda Velocitta, in the interior of São Paulo.

One of the most successful rally drivers in Brazil, Guiga Spinelli continues to prepare for the Sertões race. The owner of five wins in Brazil’s most important Brazillian off-road race, together with Mitsubishi Motors revealed the design of the Mitsubish L200 Triton Sport Racing pickup for the race of the 31st edition of the race, which will be held between 11 and 19 August.

The new car, which will be driven by Guiga Spinelli and Paulo Fiúza as codriver will have the predominance of the gray color, and will be sponsored by the brands FF Seguros, PneuStore, BTG Pactual Wealth Management, Atvos, W-Truffi Blindados and the support of Dacar Motorsports. Guiga will in the coming days do its first test with the Mitsubishi L200 Triton pickup aiming at the Sertões race in the FIA T1 category.

“The arrival of such important sponsors reinforces the relevance of Mitsubishi Motors’ return to motorsport in partnership with Spinelli Racing. We will test the car at Velocitta Farm, after a few changes, aiming at the best possible configuration for the features of the Sertons Rally. It will be my first contact with the car since October last year and these training days will be crucial to getting better prepared for the rally," Spinelli said.

André Bresser, head of Mitsubishi team and engineering manager at Spinelli Racing, explained the technical details of this test process. “We have changed the gear gear to make the most of the engine’s power, as the current regulation limits the final speed to 170 km/h. We will work with Dacar Motorsports on the final engine calibration and we will also test the new suspension configuration. Then we will do a very detailed final review before embarking on the car to the Sertões,” says Bresser.

It will be intense days that will require a lot of all the team before leaving for the eight days of dispute between the cities of Petrolina (PE) and Preá (CE). The total route of the Sertões will be 3,800 km, of which 2,080 will be timed.
