The Arnaud Rodrigues Convention Centre welcomes teams, vehicles and structures that bring the rally’s service park to life. The event takes place from June 15 to 20, with five stages, including the prologue.
Palmas, Tocantins – The 12th edition of Rally Jalapão officially got underway this Monday, June 15, in Palmas, Tocantins. The opening of the paddock area marked the beginning of the event’s activities and transformed the Arnaud Rodrigues Convention Centre into a true “rally city”, bringing together teams, competitors and professionals who will be involved throughout the coming days of competition.
Activity was intense throughout the day in the service park. Mechanics, engineers, cooks and logistics teams began setting up structures, mobile workshops and support areas that will keep the rally running throughout the week. Technical and administrative checks were also carried out in parallel.
Expectations are high for another edition of one of the most traditional events on Brazil’s national off-road calendar. This year, Rally Jalapão brings together 49 vehicles and 86 competitors from 27 cities and 13 Brazilian states. The entry list is made up of 12 motorcycles, 34 UTVs and three cars.
The service park will be open to the public until Wednesday, June 17, allowing fans to follow the competitors’ preparations, the setting up of the boxes and the behind-the-scenes work of the competition up close, bringing the local population closer to the world of rally raid. The atmosphere of competition has already taken over the capital of Tocantins, building excitement ahead of the start of the first stage, which will head towards the municipality of Lizarda.
Before that, competitors will face the prologue this Tuesday, June 16, in Palmas. This session will define the starting order for the beginning of the competition. From Wednesday, June 17, drivers and navigators will tackle four timed stages through to Saturday, June 20.
The route will cover more than 1,038.81 kilometres in total, including 792.42 kilometres of timed special stages. The itinerary will pass through some of the most emblematic landscapes of the Tocantins cerrado, including the municipalities of Lizarda and São Félix do Tocantins, in a challenge that will demand speed, endurance, strategy and technical skill from the competitors.
