Rally RN 1500 2025: Bruno Varela wins RN1500 and Rodrigo Varela triumphs in the last special
The dunes of Rio Grande do Norte defined the rally on Friday
The first stage of the Brazilian Rally Raid Championship, the RN1500, had its champion duo defined this Friday, April 11. Bruno Varela and navigator Ari Fiuza emerged as the big winners among the UTVs by accumulating 13h55min56s with the Maverick R #103 over the four days of competition between Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte.
On the last day of the race, the competitors faced a very sandy route to São Miguel do Gostoso, on the coast of Rio Grande do Norte. Rodrigo Varela and Matheus Mazzei were the fastest, winning the 235 km special by completing the route in 4h05min25s with the Maverick R #102. Felipe Fraga and Bruno Rezende were close behind, 2min39s apart. Third place went to Jean Azevedo and Idali Bosse.
Reinaldo Varela and navigator Fábio Machado took sixth place with the Maverick R #123. Gabriel Varela and Michael Mason, on board the Maverick R #153, finished in 21st place. Bruno and Ari finished in 13th place, but it was enough to beat Denísio do Nascimento and Gunnar Dums by 9min47s and take their first win of the year.
“It was a great experience every day. Even though we faced a few problems along the way, the car was very good and we managed to have excellent navigation as well. It's only the beginning of the year and it's incredible to be able to start by winning the RN1500, such a traditional rally,” commented Bruno, who is the current South American champion in the sport.
“It's great to finish with victory on the last stage! We managed to make up the time we lost yesterday and finish this first stage of the Brazilian championship well. And we're ready to go faster with the Dust Family,” said Rodrigo, who finished the RN1500 in third place overall.
The second stage of the Brazilian Rally Raid Championship is the Rally Minas Brasil, which starts on May 17.
