Sertões 2024: Adrien Metge dominates Sertões 2024
Yamaha IMS Rally Team rider led the biggest rally in the Americas from the start and won the championship for the second time
The 32nd edition of the Sertões came to a close on Saturday (31/8), ending in the same way it began: with Yamaha's absolute dominance. Adrien Metge, a Yamaha IMS Rally Team rider, led from the very first stage and gave no chance to any other competitor. Sertões 2024 began and ended in Brasília/DF, passing through Goiás, Minas Gerais and Bahia. The route covered 3,700 km, with 2,111 km of timed specials.
Winner of the 2021 edition, Adrien Metge won the second title of the biggest rally in the Americas with superiority. Leader since the first day of competition, the Yamaha IMS Rally Team rider won 5 of the 7 stages. This dominance has been the rider's hallmark this season with his Yamaha WR450F. Adrien has won all four of the Brazilian Championship races (RN1500, Minas Brasil, Jalapão and Sertões) and, as the first six stages of the Sertões were also valid for the Brazilian Championship, he has continued to show his dominance: of the 16 Brazilian stages, Adrien has won 12 and is leading with one race to go.
Ricardo Martins, who suffered a penalty during the race, managed to take a place on the podium in the Moto1 category, finishing in 5th place. Gabriel Bruning, who had a fever at the start of the race, was runner-up in the Moto2 category and 4th in the overall standings.
See below for the final results of the Sertões and the Yamaha IMS Rally Team riders' assessment of the race, who compete on Yamaha WR450F motorcycles.
The Yamaha IMS Rally Team is sponsored by IMS Racewear, Wamc Log, Polisport, Tendas El Shaddai, Banco Yamaha, Yamalube, Power MX, DID, BMP Special Parts and Durag.
