The 2024 edition of the Sertões BRB (August 23-31) will mark the debut of a new machine in the motorcycle race. Janaína Souza, from São Paulo and based in Portugal, will be riding a Yamaha Ténéré 700, a model that will only arrive in Brazilian dealerships at the beginning of 2025. She will be defending the MSL Rally team in the Over 45 category.

Owner of the women's FIM Baja Rally World Cup title in 2020, Janaína rides the Ténéré 700 in Portugal. If the bike is nothing new to her, the Sertões BRB is also an old acquaintance. She was runner-up in Self and third in the Brazil category.

It's undoubtedly a great pleasure and also a great responsibility to compete on this Ténéré 700. We imported this model directly from Europe and it has been fully prepared for extreme off-road use. As I'm already used to the model and have taken part in several competitions in Europe with the T7, I have a lot of confidence in the motorcycle's potential and I'm going to do my best to cross the finish line with the best results,” said Janaína.

The Téneré 700 is the latest version of a motorcycle created in the early 1980s from Yamaha's experience in rally raids. It was with a Téneré 600 that André Azevedo and Klever Kolberg (both Sertões BRB champions) became the first Brazilians to compete in the Dakar, in 1988.
