Sertões 2025 Enters Route Reconnaissance Phase
The 33rd edition of the largest rally in the Americas is fast approaching — scheduled for July 26 to August 3 — and preparations for Sertões 2025 have reached another critical stage. This past weekend marked the beginning of the reconnaissance phase for the rally’s 3,482-kilometer route, which will take competitors from Goiânia to Praia do Francês in Marechal Deodoro (AL) across eight challenging stages.
Led by technical director Edgar Fabre, the route team is back on the road and will be working through next Sunday (June 22) to validate the planned course. The goal is to identify any necessary changes in both the liaison sections and the timed special stages; to make corresponding updates to the roadbook, drafted by safety director Du Sachs; and to confirm all reference points that will be provided to the competitors.
The data collected during this phase will be used to finalize the official roadbook, which is delivered to drivers and co-drivers in both digital and printed formats shortly before the start of each day’s stage. A final verification will still be carried out by the so-called “Rabbit” team (Coelho) just days ahead of the competitors’ arrival — and any updates or alerts from this final check will be communicated during the daily driver briefings.
