Sertoes 2025:Mitsubishi Spinelli Racing shines in demanding stage, highlighting progress of Triton Ultimate Racing
With sharp pace and clever adaptation to tough terrain, the team moves forward in its development mission — proving the competitive promise of a car built in Brazil.
Januária (MG), July 28, 2025 — Stage 2 of the Sertões Rally wasn’t just another race day for Mitsubishi Spinelli Racing — it was another leap forward in the evolution of their Brazilian-born machine, the Triton Ultimate Racing. Covering a total of 416 km between Unaí and Januária, including 301 km of timed special stage, Monday tested everything: driver focus, car endurance, and the will to go faster.
Guiga Spinelli and co-driver Youssef Haddad faced a brutal mix of terrain: jumps, sandy patches, river crossings, fast-paced stretches, and tricky erosion zones. It was a masterclass in versatility — and the perfect testbed for the Triton’s ongoing development.
"It was a really complete stage — a bit of everything,” said Guiga. “The beginning was tight; we were stuck behind another car for the first 100 km. But once we passed, our rhythm improved a lot. It was an ideal stage to test the car.”
And the verdict? “I loved it. The car is fast, easy to drive, and comfortable. At times I realised I could’ve pushed harder — and that’s exciting. It shows we’re still just scratching the surface of its potential. This stage gave us key insights into how the Triton behaves on very different terrain from what we’ve tested so far.”
The duo finished the stage with the fourth-best time of the day — 3h54min04s, only 4 minutes and 25 seconds off the winners. Not bad for a car still deep in development.
With Stage 2 complete, the team now heads into the third leg of this 2025 edition — 290 km of timed racing from Minas Gerais into Bahia, finishing in the historic town of Bom Jesus da Lapa. The focus remains the same: pushing the limits of a car designed and built in Brazil, with one goal — to stand tall among the elite of global rally raid.
Mitsubishi Spinelli Racing is proudly backed in this year's Sertões Rally by Petrobras Podium, ArcelorMittal, BTG Pactual Wealth Management, W. Truffi Blindados, and FF Seguros, with technical support from Dacar Motorsport, Loctite, and OMP.
