Sertoes 2025: Mitsubishi Triton Ultimate Returns to the Sertões Rally
With Brazilian DNA, the Mitsubishi Triton Ultimate Returns to the Sertões Rally and Back to Its Roots
A start in Goiânia, a finish on the Northeastern coast, and the return of a legendary duo that has already claimed three championship titles for the brand with the three diamonds.
Goiânia, Brazil – July 25, 2025 — The 33rd edition of the Rally dos Sertões kicks off on July 26 with a prologue and Super Prime in Goiânia (GO), marking the return of the rally’s start to the Goiás capital after seven years. This year’s route finishes on the sands of Praia do Francês, in Marechal Deodoro (AL), crossing five states and three regions of Brazil in an epic 3,482-kilometer adventure—2,215 of those being timed special stages.
A historic partner and the most enduring name in Sertões history, Mitsubishi Motors is back for its third consecutive year with Mitsubishi Spinelli Racing, led by Guiga Spinelli, a five-time winner of the event (2003, 2004, 2010, 2011, and 2014). Behind the wheel of the powerful Mitsubishi Triton Ultimate Racing, Guiga is joined by co-driver Youssef Haddad, stepping in after Portuguese navigator Paulo Fiuza was sidelined due to medical reasons. Youssef, a seasoned pro and current race director of the Mitsubishi Cup, has already clinched three Sertões titles alongside Guiga—and he’s back with a fire in his heart.
Built and engineered 100% in Brazil, the Triton Ultimate Racing is a refined evolution of the model that debuted in the 2024 Sertões. “This is a major milestone in the car’s journey,” said Spinelli. “It’s still a young project, but it’s already come a long way. This race is where we validate everything we’ve worked on throughout the year—pushing for performance and reliability to take on some of the fiercest competition out there.”
Team manager André Bresser emphasized how crucial the upgrades have been: “Last year’s race was a real-world testing ground. Based on the data we gathered, we’ve fine-tuned critical systems—steering, suspension, engine, weight distribution, and braking. Now, we’re aiming to be faster, tougher, and ready to fight for the win.”
Youssef echoes the excitement and highlights how this year’s course taps into the true spirit of Sertões—and of Mitsubishi. “This is a technical rally that demands precision in navigation and mechanical endurance. Starting in Goiânia and finishing in the Northeast captures exactly what makes Sertões so iconic. I’m thrilled to be back in the cockpit—especially for such a demanding and meaningful edition.”
The competition will unfold over eight grueling stages, starting on July 27 and passing through Unaí (MG), Januária (MG), Bom Jesus da Lapa (BA), Xique-Xique (BA), Petrolina (PE), Delmiro Gouveia (AL), and finally Marechal Deodoro (AL)—a journey that will stretch from July 27 to August 3.
Behind the scenes, the logistical muscle of the event is no less heroic. Mitsubishi is deploying a robust support fleet, including 45 L200 Triton Sport pickups, 116 units of the Triton, and 1 Eclipse Cross SUV, all of which will be used in route scouting and during the rally itself. These vehicles will cross some of Brazil’s most remote and rugged terrain, providing critical support and ensuring the rally rolls on smoothly through the wilderness.
