Sertões 2025: Yamaha IMS Rally Team Leads Three Categories After Stage 4 of Sertões 2025
Marathon Stage pushes bikes and riders to the limit between Bom Jesus da Lapa and Xique-Xique, Bahia. Ricardo “Bob” Martins claims another double win in Over and Big Trail.
July 31, 2025
Facing the first leg of the grueling Marathon Stage on Wednesday (July 30), the Yamaha IMS Rally Team once again delivered a standout performance during the Sertões 2025. In this stage, no external mechanical assistance is allowed — all repairs must be handled solely by the riders, with limited time at the end of the day. The day’s route included 478 kilometers, with 276 km of timed special between Bom Jesus da Lapa and Xique-Xique, both in the state of Bahia.
Riding his Yamaha Ténéré 700, Ricardo “Bob” Martins dominated again, taking victory in both the Over and Big Trail categories for the fourth consecutive time. His smooth, strategic riding also earned him sixth place in the Overall Standings, reinforcing his lead in both classes.
Gabriel “Tomate” Soares had his best day yet. Starting from 15th position, he pushed hard throughout the stage and crossed the finish line in 4th overall and 3rd in Moto 1 — a strong and consistent performance with no issues.
Gabriel Bruning faced a tough start with navigation system troubles, having to manage his roadbook manually. He later encountered a race incident, chose to slow down for safety, and even stopped to assist a fellow rider who had fallen. Despite these setbacks, Bruning still secured 2nd place in the Moto 2 category and 7th overall, maintaining his lead in Moto 2 after four intense stages.
The second leg of the Marathon Stage continues this Friday (August 1), covering 470 kilometers from Xique-Xique (BA) to Petrolina (PE), including a 296 km timed special.
Sertões 2025 spans 3,482 kilometers, with 2,215 km of timed specials. The rally began in Goiânia (GO), travels through Minas Gerais, Bahia, and Pernambuco, and will conclude on August 3 at Praia do Francês, in Marechal Deodoro (AL).
