Dakar 2020: Arkadiusz Lindner ready for his first Dakar

Arkadiusz Lindner stood on the starting ramp of Dakar Rally 2020, fulfilling this way the biggest dream of his lifetime. The rookie from Łódź is set to fight with terrains of Saudi Arabia, which are completely new to everybody. The rally starts today.

We are witnessing the opening of a completely new chapter in Dakar Rally history. The toughest offroad marathon in the world moved for the second time to a new place and to a new continent. After 29 years of exploring the Black Continent and 11 editions held on terrains of South America, organizers are counting on Asia, specifically – on Saud Arabia. 

Sandy and stony deserts covering most of the country and climate prevailing there are similar to those that competitors had to cope with at African editions of the rally. Plenty of regular Dakar competitors is excited about the new location, new country, new people, and the most of all – new experiences. For competitors having less Dakar participations under their belts and rookies like Arkadiusz Lindner, the new place means, above all, evening out the chances for a good result. It will be equally new adventure for everybody.

“First part will be for sure a strong kick for us, because we have 700 km to go, but I’m well-prepared. I can’t wait for that first stage, which is supposed to bring many surprises, tracks of different kinds and surprising navigation. I’m very excited, but for the first time, I think, I plan to slow down a bit at the very beginning. This is a long marathon and we’ll be consuming it day by day. Keep your fingers crossed!” says Arkadiusz Lindner.

First kilometers of Dakar Rally 2020 will lead competitors along the shores of the Red Sea, from Jeddah to Al-Wajh. They will tackle a 319 km long special stage and 433 km of road sections. This stage will be a foretaste of what competitors will have to cope with during the rally.
