While there is still no official announcement about the possible start of two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso in the 2020 edition of Dakar Rally, today France TV published a tweet about his co-driver-to-be – Marc Coma!

The five-time Dakar winner and former sporting director of the Dakar Rally wouldn’t be the first top level biker to end up in co-driver’s seat, and during his racing career Coma showcased his navigation skills lots of times.

This would not be the first time for Marc Coma racing on four wheels: in 2006, he started in Baja Espana in a Mitsubishi, as driver. That rally, however, ended prematurely for the Catalan who had to withdraw after the prologue due to a technical problem.

Rumour has it that their first race can be Morocco Rally, the traditional ‘dress rehearsal’ of the Dakar. Less likely, but theoretically a debut at Baja Poland, at the end of August is also possible – the entry list of the rally will be published on Friday.
