Van Loon and Delaunay overtake twenty competitors and putting decent times on the board. They finish as eleventh just 25 minutes behind Peterhansel, the winner of the day.

“We had a good day,” says Van Loon. “We went easily through the field and haven't faced any strange issues. At the end, some things got a bit warm, but we are here! The mechanics have worked really hard and I am happy that I am able to show my appreciation for it in this way. Tomorrow it is the rest day and then we want to do some good days in the second week.”

The rest day is tomorrow in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. The rally will continue on Sunday and the Dakar will move towards Wadi Al-Dawasir.
