António Maio was today forced to abandon the Dakar Rally 2023 when he started the fifth stage of the race due to technical difficulties suffered on his motorcycle. The pilot started the special, but was forced to stop when he had done only 50 meters of the race.

The Dakar 2023 caravan leaves tomorrow for the sixth stage of this edition of the rally which will be the longest of the rally with a special stage consisting of 467km.

António Maio will now return to Portugal to prepare for the start of the 2023 National Cross-Country Championship, which kicks off with Baja TT Montes Alentejanos on February 24th, 25th and 26th.
