After a day marked by misfortune Hélder Rodrigues started today an excellent recovery rising from the 28th position at the start to the 10th position that he occupied at km 335 when the selective sector was interrupted due to weather conditions. At the controls of a Can-Am signed up by South Racing and navigated by Gonçalo Reis, he managed to do a very positive stage and conquered important positions to be able to attack the top places of the race again.
"It was a complicated day. We started from the back, in position 135, and it rained a lot, so it wasn't easy to manage today. However, we managed to overcome the difficulties and arrived well at the bivouac. We went with tires with a lot of pressure so as not to puncture, but since it rained all day, there was a lot of mud and it was complicated. The most important thing is that we didn't get punctured, nor did we have any major problems, we just got stuck once in a muddy area, and everything went well. We knew it was difficult to get a good result overall, however, our main goal was to get a good place so that in the following stages we can attack again", Hélder Rodrigues referred.
The fourth stage of Dakar 2023 will take place in the throne of Ha-Il and will consist of a selective sector with 425km. The first 100km of dunes will be very demanding. Once this stage is over, the sandy tracks that lead the delegation back to Ha-l anticipate a difficult navigation. It will take a lot of concentration to interpret and follow the Roadbook's instructions.
