Veterans Champion in 7th place in the Original by Motul

After a prologue that served essentially to line up the pilots for the opening stage of the Dakar 2023 Rally, the pilots participating in the great cross-country marathon had today before them 367 km of selective sector in a total of 602.56 km. In this first stage, Mário Patrão, driver supported by CRÉDITO AGRÍCOLA, reached the 7th best time among the Original by Motul pilots, the challenging Dakar class, better known as "malle moto", where the toolbox is his only company along the race.

World Cross Country Rallies Veterans Champion, Mário Patrão, driver supported by ABRIGO DA MONTANHA highlighted that "this first big stage was quite hard. The adaptation to the rhythm that a race of this style imposes is difficult, but tomorrow will be a better day. I had a slight fall at km160 which led to a speed reduction. The track was very aggressive and this will be the biggest challenge, to find the balance until the end. Happy year 2023 to all!"  Note that Mário Patrão, sponsored by LUSÍADAS SAÚDE is also the current European Champion of Bajas and Rally Raid.

Tomorrow the 2nd stage will be disputed, which will take the competitors to Al-'Ula, where 430 km will be covered by the chronometer. The road to Al-'Ula, which the BAHCO-supported driver will have to face, reserves something out of the ordinary. The closed tracks will be quite challenging, so driving skills will be put to the test. The more troubled navigation on the stone tracks will be rewarded when they come across the splendid canyons and the beautiful landscapes near the end. The stage will be decided over the dunes, with some of the majestic temples of Nabataean visible on the horizon.
