Rally du Maroc 2019: Nani Roma: "The Borgward is stable and pleasant to drive in the dunes"

The Catalan driver adds kilometers on the Borgward BX7 DKR EVO in Moroccan territory.

Satisfied and happy; This is how Nani Roma was feeling after the first day of tests in Morocco with the new Borgward BX7 DKR EVO, the Borgward Rally Team car that will be used in the Dakar 2020. The test days have finished, but Roma's program continues with the participation in the Rallye du Morocco 2019, which will take place from 3 to October 9 bringing together the top cross-country rally drivers.

“On the first day of a test like this, in which everything is new like the team, the car, and the co-driver, one is a little more nervous. Beyond that, we are all happy with the result. Indeed, there are still many things to do, but the car is very stable and lets itself be driven. It's very nice to drive in the dunes, ”says Roma.

Beyond the optimism for the performance of the BX7 DKR EVO, Nani clarified that the next days that Wevers Sport - which is in charge of the team,  will continue to work hard. “In the testing days, one is never happy because he always feels that he can improve. When you improve, you go faster and if you are fast more things are improved ... The first impression is good. The team is motivated and the sensations with Dani (Oliveras) were also positive because this is the first time we race together in the desert. ”

The work of the first day focused on testing different suspension set-ups. "I think we found a solution," explained the two-time Dakar champion.

Roma's new co-driver, Dani Oliveras, was also satisfied. “It's the first time we tested with roadbook and everything was very positive. Although we still have to do many kilometers together, we understand each other very well, ” summarized the former motorcyclist.

To achieve the objective of strengthening the relationship, the Rally of Morocco appears as an optimal scenario according to Oliveras: “Although it could be said that it will be a race test, I think that every day we will all learn more from everyone and that is why we also aspire to achieve a good result".
