Rally of Morocco 2021:  XtremePlus celebrates Pena Campo – Tornabell 3rd place in the general T3 category

Historic Dakar pistes, dunes and fast tracks, a mix of what this amazing region can offer was the scenery of the final loop of the Rallye du Maroc. The starting point of the stage was in Foum Zguid with a fast start and finished in M'Hamid. As on the first day, the competitors enjoyed another 30 kilometres of dunes in the Erg Chegaga. In the middle of the stage a completely new section represented today’s extra challenge to test even more the competitors and make the rally a true adventure.
 
The XtremePlus celebrated Pena Campo – Tornabell podium finish in the general T3 category and the great commitment, motivation and passion of all the 4 crews. In particular everyone in the team was close to Sebastian Guayasamin and Ricardo Torlaschi, who had a disappointing day. They entered the stage very motivated to improve their position, but they had a chassis issue and their race was over.  
 
The arrival of the other 3 crews was very emotional. The experienced Spanish duo Jose Luis Pena Campo and Rafael Cordoba Tornabell consolidated their position and finished 3rd in the T3 general raking, 27th overall. The Rallye du Maroc was won by the Qatari Nasser Al-Attiya, second Yazeed Al Rajhi (Sau), third Lucio Alvarez from Argentina. 

“We are really happy. I really like the Rallye du Maroc and sincerely I have always done well here. Our Polaris worked really well during the race week. We only had an issue with the belt one day so we are very satisfied. I particularly like the dunes, so we really enjoyed crossing the Erg Chebbi and the Erg Chegaga in the first days, and I have to say that the CST Apache tyres made the difference on the kilometres and kilometres of stones and rocks that we covered especially on the 3rd , 4th stage and even today. Finishing 3rd in our category that is so competitive is a team result: myself, and my co-driver Rafael who is first a friend in addition to be an excellent navigator, and the whole team: from Marco to all the mechanics”,

said Jose Luis Pena, who finished on the podium together with the Russian Pavel Lebedev, winner of the T3 category, and the Spanish Fernando Alvarez, second.  

“Today the machine and the CST tyres worked perfectly, but I was not feeling well so I couldn’t really drive as I like. I was sick already last night and this compromised a lot today’s stage. It’s a pity because today we finished very close to our team mate Jose Luis Pena and Rafael Tornabell who are really experienced and a reference for us”,

said Enrico Gaspari, 7th in the T3 category, 35th overall.

“It was a perfect day”, confessed Graham Knight, 20th in the competitive T4 category and 42nd overall.  “The stage was beautiful with a varied terrain: small dunes, fast tracks, off-piste….. we really enjoyed it. The fact that the stage was reduced was appreciated. It was a nice finish of the race. We really like the format of the Rally du Maroc and the country. Once again it is amazing to share this adventure with the Xtremeplus team. Marco (Piana), Ana and all the mechanics makes the rally real enjoyable. The atmosphere in the team is so friendly and fun that it is good to be part of the Xtremeplus family”.
