Rallye du Maroc 2019: SRT 3rd overall, but disqualified

The Serradori Racing Team all types of emotions yesterday. After spending a week fighting for the victory with the top cross-country rally drivers during the rally of Morocco, Mathieu Serradori and Fabian Lurquin crossed the finish line in 3rd place overall. As the whole team was reaping the rewards for all the hard work, the joy was short-lived. Indeed, the SRT was disqualified by the FIA Stewarts for non-compliance to the minimum weight of the vehicle. By being underweight by 35 kg (the current standard in FIA is 1,730 kg), the CR6 no. 315 will not be featuring in the overall ranking anymore.

"We respect the decision. This year we participated in two events, DAKAR and SILK WAY that did not meet the same weight requirements. All regulations seem to be moving in this direction in the future, with the weight set at 1,580 kg, " explains Mathieu Serradori.

Returning to the race, the balance is still positive. "We are a match for the best in this discipline. We discovered with Fabian the Rally Morocco version David Castera, a good benchmark for the Dakar that’s coming very soon.”

For the Belgian co-driver Fabian Lurquin, their duo can still evolve. "We did our race, especially me, without changing anything, in fact, my navigation was too much "to the book". Mathieu is progressing with his driving, we now have the weapons to get a good result in Saudi Arabia, the most prestigious event of all. "

A disappointment but many satisfactions, the Rally of Morocco remains "a good preparation" for the challenges ahead.
