2022 Baja Aragon: The CST Polaris Xtremeplus team at the finish line of the Baja Aragon with positive feelings

The photo on the podium and the great performance on the SS2 that saw Liam Griffin and Fraser Parish 22nd of the overall out of 90 competitors in the FIA championship and 5th in the T4 category were the highlights of the Baja Aragon for the CST Polaris Xtremeplus team.

After the great result in the SS2 and the crash in the SS3, the British crew decided to tackle the final day with a more conservative approach.

“Yesterday the SS2 was brilliant because we were fast without pushing hard. Unfortunately we couldn’t make the most of it because in the SS3 we made a navigation and a driving mistake, that spoiled the good job done. It was a danger 2 over the crest of a hill. We came over this crest to the left with too much speed and we hit the bank on the right. It was unexpected and we lost time to repair our Polaris”, stated Liam Griffin. “Today we drove more sensibly. We didn’t want to make any mistakes and the target was to finish the race. Regarding the stage, today it was a good mix of technical and fast tracks. All in all, it was very fun to ride”.

Regarding the route, there were many rocks and bumps and as usual the CST Apache tyres made the difference allowing to cover the whole race distance without any problems. Not even a flat tyre. The terrain put a lot of stress also on the shock absorbers, but the CST Polaris Xtremeplus team had no issue. Despite the torrid temperatures, the Emka lubricants used for the engine and the gearbox worked really well.

“The Baja Aragon showed really well Liam’s talent”, stated Marco Piana, the team owner and manager. “It was his first race after a long time, but he was able to set the pace and do really well as we saw on the SS2. If he could do more races with the Polaris Pro XP Turbo throughout the season, I’m sure he would be regularly with the front runners as we saw in the first stage yesterday”. I’d like to congratulate also Fraser. He was at his debut at the Baja Aragon and we really appreciated his commitment.
The mechanics did an excellent job and the Polaris proved to be once again and very robust machine. It was a pity for the mistake on SS2. It was his first and only mistake, but it costed precious time. I’m sure that next time Liam will be fight again for the front positions.
The final results here at the Baja Aragon in fact don’t reflect the existing potential.
